Spring Piano Recital

Lia and Laura both did great in their spring piano recital! They love their teacher Shelly. I hope they'll keep playing for a long time.

Hawaii--Part 2

Here are the parasailing pictures. And like I said, it was really cool! Once we got up in the air everything went totally silent. It was really peaceful and I'm so glad I got to go up with Nate.

Hawaii

In May, Nate and I went on a graduation trip to Hawaii. It was incredible!! We spent seven days in Maui and loved it! We couldn't have gone if it wasn't for our great parents and a good friend who we hired to stay with our kids. Overall our kids did really well. We missed them a lot, and they missed us too, but we all made it through the week and I'm pretty sure I'd like to do it again sometime...when the kids get a little older. It was so nice to be with Nate and have some time to ourselves.
Our first morning there we drove up to the top of a volcano to see the sun rise. It was so beautiful! I've never seen clouds like that before.
This is pretty much how I look in ALL the pictures--scary. I'm not quite sure what happened, maybe I look like this all the time? Whether I do or don't, I somehow managed to look less than my best pretty much the whole trip. Oh well, it didn't make it any less fun.
That same day we took a drive around one side of the island. It's called the Road to Hana and it was more than worth the drive. We rented a jeep and spent most of that day in and out of it. We stopped at all the waterfalls along the way and hiked into them.

After the first few waterfalls we got brave enough to swim in the pools at the bottom. It was really cold and mossy, but really fun.

I love this picture of Nate. This was on a little hike where we took a wrong turn. I made sure to lose a flip flop in the water so I had to hike back down with just one.

Most of our time was spent snorkeling. I was a little nervous at first, but it was awesome! The water was so clear and we even got to see a turtle.
Yeah I know, great picture, huh? But it was one of the only underwater pictures that turned out. Our camera got water in it soon after this one was taken and that was the end of that camera.
One of my favorite things we did there was parasailing. It was very easy and incredibly peaceful. We paid them to take pictures of us with their camera. I'll post those pictures next.

Spring Activities

Washing the car with noodles...not very effective, but apparetly a lot of fun.
This is our good friend Wendy reading a book that she wrote and gave to Josh. She's done this for all our kids as they've gotten ready to start kindergarten. She is the best!
Laura in the dance festival.
Lia in the dance festival. They both were so cute!
Megan and her friend "Shine" (her real name is Leah). They are two peas in a pod and Megan has really missed living next to her!
Movie night and sleepover in the family room.
Lia's class put on a program for Mother's Day. They sang a song, recited poems they all wrote for us, and served us refreshments. It was so nice and Lia's poem was really sweet. She had a great teacher last year.
Lia and her friend Alexa.
My kids and their friends Makaila and Trevor in Grandpa Nelson's truck.
The girls doing their own American Girl Doll fashion show.

Nate's Nebraska Trip

I neglected to post pictures several months ago of Nate's trip to Nebraska to meet Warren Buffett. Mr. Buffett hosted a meet and greet for several business schools around the country and BYU was invited to attend. Nate was even asked to ask him a question. He also got to visit Winter Quarters while he was there. It was a great trip and I'm glad he got to go!

Laura's Birthday

Laura's birthday was in May and I feel bad it's taken me this long to post about it! Laura turned seven and had a tea party birthday. She was so excited! Laura has a lot of enthusiasm for everything in her life. We told her we were going to the Brigham City Temple open house the other day and you would've thought we were going to Disneyland from the way she reacted. And when it was time to go she asked if she could bring a notebook and a pen to write down the things she saw and learned at the temple. She loves playing with her friends and doing her hair.  Now that she and Lia have their own bathroom (and a new curling iron), she's always trying new things with her hair. She also picked up soccer again this year and had her first piano recital. Laura is very responsible and sensitive and is always quick to apologize. We love Laura!!
