In May, Nate and I went on a graduation trip to Hawaii. It was incredible!! We spent seven days in Maui and loved it! We couldn't have gone if it wasn't for our great parents and a good friend who we hired to stay with our kids. Overall our kids did really well. We missed them a lot, and they missed us too, but we all made it through the week and I'm pretty sure I'd like to do it again sometime...when the kids get a little older. It was so nice to be with Nate and have some time to ourselves.
Our first morning there we drove up to the top of a volcano to see the sun rise. It was so beautiful! I've never seen clouds like that before.
This is pretty much how I look in ALL the pictures--scary. I'm not quite sure what happened, maybe I look like this all the time? Whether I do or don't, I somehow managed to look less than my best pretty much the whole trip. Oh well, it didn't make it any less fun.
That same day we took a drive around one side of the island. It's called the Road to Hana and it was more than worth the drive. We rented a jeep and spent most of that day in and out of it. We stopped at all the waterfalls along the way and hiked into them.
After the first few waterfalls we got brave enough to swim in the pools at the bottom. It was really cold and mossy, but really fun.
I love this picture of Nate. This was on a little hike where we took a wrong turn. I made sure to lose a flip flop in the water so I had to hike back down with just one.
Most of our time was spent snorkeling. I was a little nervous at first, but it was awesome! The water was so clear and we even got to see a turtle.
Yeah I know, great picture, huh? But it was one of the only underwater pictures that turned out. Our camera got water in it soon after this one was taken and that was the end of that camera.
One of my favorite things we did there was parasailing. It was very easy and incredibly peaceful. We paid them to take pictures of us with their camera. I'll post those pictures next.
