In February we took a last minute trip to Palm Springs (we had a free time share there and Nate had a week off in between jobs...so we took a little vacation). It was a really fun trip and ended up being a blessing too that we went. Nate's aunt Kathleen, who lived in Southern California, was dying of cancer and we were able to go see her. We were so glad we did...she passed away three days later. She looked much sicker than we were expecting. She was so sweet with the kids and was really glad to see them. It was really upsetting to see her so sick, but we were so grateful to have had that time with her. She was a sweet lady and we miss her.
We stopped at the American Girl Doll store while we were down there. The girls were in heaven! Even Josh was so cute running around the store wanting to show the girls everything.
This is Megan covering her eyes in the car wash. We hit a storm on our way down and the car was a mess! Megan thinks car washes are a big monster and is not a fan!
We went to a little hamburger place in town that was really fun. The kids loved the "real" shakes and the old fashion cars their lunches came in.
We also went to Knott's Berry Farm while we were there and had a great time! It was cheap and not crowded and the kids loved it. Megan was excited every time we saw "noopsy" and we loved hearing hear say "noopsie".
Josh did NOT care for the big roller coasters, but once we got over to the little kids side, he and Megan didn't want to leave. I tried to be brave and go on a couple big roller coasters with Lia--who has no fear--but mostly I left that job to Nate who was happy to oblige.
Laura was brave enough to ride a few big roller coasters too--with dad.
After Knott's Berry Farm, we went to Medieval Times, a dinner and jousting show. Other than having to wear crowns we all look so awesome in, it was a really fun night!
Josh had a loose tooth and fell asleep trying to wiggle it. It was so cute I had to take a picture.
The kids were great in the car! We listened to some audio books and music, but no movies and the kids didn't complain at all. I was reminded again why it's so important to take trips--getting away and spending time with the kids is priceless. And I love going places we haven't been before. And this trip was extra meaningful because of Kathleen.
