Josh's 7th birthday was spread out over a few days because Nate had to go out of town on his birthday. So we celebrated with his friends one day and another day with Nate and our families. He had a water party with his friends and we went up the canyon for a hot dog roast and fishing with our families. Two of Josh's favorite things are hot dogs and fishing and he loves doing anything with his dad. For his birthday cake he wanted him and Nate fishing on top of the cake. He also loves building with Legos, playing baseball, and playing with his friends. It's not a good week if he doesn't get some play time in with his friends. And his latest favorite thing is our new Leopard Gecko named Geckin. He asked for one for his birthday (after asking for one for a couple years) and although it didn't come until a few weeks later, we got one. He's really cute with him. When we first got him, he'd wake up early to hold him and was always saying that Geckin was smiling. Josh is so smart and is fun to be around. He likes to be silly and he likes to build things and figure out how things work. He's become a great reader this last year. His favorite books are the Box Car Children series. He can read them, but he'd rather be read to at night before bed. He gives the best hugs ever and has the cutest smile. And I love it when he helps me cook or do laundry. We love you, Josh!
Here are some of my favorite Josh sayings from the last year:
"You and mom must have really small brains because it takes you a long time to think about things."
"That's a pretty big house for a small family like ours."
While playing chess, he called the pawns "spawns" and one of the other pieces "snowmen people."
And while we were in the car on a trip Megan said, "let's play a game who can get the most yellow cars" to which Josh replied, "no, let's play who can get the most porta potties."
