Fun in February

Laura and Megan are always coming up with new ways to spend an afternoon. They made this house for Megan's new elephant, Ellie, that she got from Grandma Nelson. Megan was thrilled! The kids were also thrilled about making their Valentine boxes for school. Nate and Josh made his R2D2 (we copied it from a friend's we saw on Facebook). It turned out so cute and Josh was so excited! It was voted best in the class, which was such a good thing for Josh. Laura and Megan were also excited about their hippo and gumball machine boxes. And we of course had to do Valentine's hair. It's a good thing my kids are creative. I do my best to implement what they have in their heads, but that creativity certainly does not come from me! Valentine's weekend was also President's Day weekend. So after our dinner that night, which our friend Jen joined us for, the kids asked to set up the ice fishing tent in the girls' room and sleep in it that night. It's super easy to set up and they got it down so we let them. They stayed up until midnight playing and then I think Josh woke everyone up a few times during the night too. They were exhausted after staying up all night and skiing the next day, but it was worth it. (Lia, in case anyone is wondering, did not need to make a box this year and apparently she's decided she's too old for things like sleeping in tents--she needs her beauty sleep!)

February

Some of our February activities included: Annie's baby blessing, Lia's first violin recital where Nate accompanied her (they both did great), celebrating Josh's birthday at school, a Jazz game (the kids were so excited--they love the Jazz as much as their dad), dinner at Grandma Nelson's, and last but not least...taking pictures of Josh's legos because I love how he loves them and carries them with him around the house (including to the bathroom).

Boys Night/Girls Trip

Kellie and I decided to take our girls to Twin Falls to see Lauren and Katelynn perform in Mary Poppins. We only had 24 hours, but we had a great time! We drove up together--all eight of us in my van, and spent the night at Kathie's. Lauren, who was Mary Poppins, and Katelynn, who played a few different roles, were fantastic! We stayed up most of the night talking and eating. It was short, but well worth the trip! Meanwhile, Nate and Josh had their own party. They went to the planetarium and then came home and watched movies and had junk food. Josh was so excited and had so much fun! He didn't want us to come home. I told him I was offended, but that we would do it again. I love that he loves his dad and it was a fun weekend for all of us!

End of January

Lia's science project was chosen to go to the school science fair, Laura said good-bye to her friend Ainsley who moved to Arizona (and I said good-bye to her mom Melissa), Megan dressed up like a 100 year old for "One Hundreds Day" at school, Laura had her market day at school (she raffled off a huge jar of candy instead of selling a lot of little things--she said it was a hit), Josh got cookies from his old primary teacher and our neighbor, Malia, and then we took a cake to her (it's a little running joke they have). Josh wanted it to look like a missionary tag since she'll be leaving on her mission soon.

Snow, Snow and More Snow

While I was at a meeting after church one Sunday, Nate and the kids built a HUGE snowman in the front yard. It was awesome. Then Laura and Josh and Megan spent the rest of the afternoon making a snow fort. They played in the fort after school the next day too and made rooms and a kitchen and put a door on it. We haven't had snow like this in years and we have all tried to make the most of it. We love the snow!

More From January

Megan and her cute friend Stella had a late night, Josh had pack meeting where he got to help with flag ceremony and his recycling project was displayed, we went to the Provo City Center Temple open house, and Nate made his famous pancakes which the kids and I finished cooking--including some with Laura, Josh and Megan's initials.

January Activities

We read stories, Megan was chosen as student of the week, the kids had ski lessons which meant Nate and I skied by ourselves all morning, Lia was chosen to be spotlighted in the yearbook and had to send in a picture of herself doing one of her hobbies, Josh took advantage of the fan we were using to dry out our ceiling after a little flood we had, and Megan celebrated the seasons at school--this picture was from Summer.
