Janet's Retirement

Janet retired in March after more than 40 years at Primary Children's Hospital. Cameron surprised her by flying in for the weekend and Darren and Sarah and their family were here from California. We went to dinner and then had a little party at her house afterward. It was a great night! We love Janet and are so grateful for everything she does for us and others.

March

At the beginning of March we had my family over for dinner, Megan and Josh had fun building all kinds of things, Nate and I took Megan and Josh to the Hutchings Museum in Lehi (Josh went there for scouts and wanted to go back--it was the first time Nate and I had been there after 12 years of living here--sad), and Nate got to read with Megan at school for Dad's and Donuts day.

Amelia's 13th Birthday

I can't believe Lia is 13! The last thirteen years have gone by so quickly, but at the same time I feel like I have been able to enjoy watching Lia grow up. She is a beautiful girl--inside and out. Lia is kind to everyone and is always doing nice things for others. She loves to babysit and is one of the favorites in our new neighborhood. She is a really great cousin to her younger cousins. She spent almost two hours on the phone the other day talking to Audrey who was having a hard time at her new school in California. She has read the Book of Mormon already and has been working hard on her personal progress. She just got called to be the secretary in the beehive class and is doing a great job there. Lia was such a good sport about changing schools and starting over with a whole new group of friends. It was not easy, but she handled it so well and now has a great group of girls she hangs out with. She loves to sew (she got a new sewing machine for her birthday) and shop and has added a new hobby recently--following the Utah Jazz. I think she knows as much about the team as her dad does. She's worked hard this school year to get straight As and is also becoming a beautiful violinist. We love Lia so much and are so grateful for her. I can't wait to see what the next 13 years will bring for her!

Lia wanted "A Night in Paris" birthday party. She made the invitations and found a picture of a cake she wanted me to make. The girls had crepes, made headbands, and watched "Sabrina" (some of which is filmed in Paris). It was a fun party. I am so grateful for good friends who Lia has fun with but who are also great influences on her.

End of February

In February we had Nate's family over to celebrate Janet's birthday and the kids wanted to make welcome signs for them when they came. And Laura gave a FHE lesson on the first vision. She did a great job and bore her testimony after, which for me is one of the best parts of being a mom--hearing my kids tell about what they know to be true. Laura also went to Clear Creek for a night in February with the rest of the 5th graders. She was more than excited and ready (we must have gone over what she packed ten times) and had a great time! Next, Josh earned his wolf badge in cub scouts. He LOVES scouts and I like watching him be excited about it. (He doesn't however love smiling for the camera when he's supposed to.) And lastly, we had our final ski day of the season. We took James and Daniel along with us and had a fun day! (Minus the time James crashed and hit his head and the time Nate left me on a run I was not qualified to go down. In fairness to him though, he has been so great about skiing as a family all season and also waiting for me when it was just the two of us. He could've skied much harder runs, but he chose to stay together. That's why I love him.)
