Memorial Day Weekend Continued

Memorial Day Weekend

The girls and I started Memorial Day weekend off with Lia's violin recital. She did a great job! She has loved her teacher Kari, but we found one who lives a little closer, so this was her last recital with her. We then went to lunch and did some shopping at the mall and Gardner Village. Lia and Laura had been dying to go shopping and Megan earned an outfit for her doll Meg by filling up her "try new foods" jar and wanted to go to the doll shop at Gardner Village to pick one out. We then headed up to Bear Lake with the Winzlers to spend the rest of  the weekend. The kids had fun playing with their cousins, riding four wheelers and exploring the area. Nate and Josh drove up late Sunday night after the fireside. Nate and Zack went on a 50 mile bike ride the next morning around the lake. On our way home we stopped and saw Kathie and Mike's new house in Logan and went to dinner with them. It was a great weekend!

Fathers and Sons Camp Continued

Fathers and Sons Camp

Nate and Josh got to go to the BYU Basketball Fathers and Sons camp this year over Memorial Day weekend. Josh was so excited and they had a really great time! They left on Friday and then met the girls and I up in Bear Lake late Sunday night. They played different sports together, heard from some of the coaches, went bowling and played laser tag. They had great food and had fun hanging out in the dorms with our friends Vince and Austin. On Sunday there was a special sacrament meeting in the Assembly Hall downtown and then Nate took Josh to see some of the Brigham Young sites downtown (he's Nate's great, great grandfather). That night they had a fireside with Mitt Romney as the speaker. It was a great way to end the weekend. I hope they can go again. It was such a good thing for Josh and Nate loved it too.

End of May

At the end of the school year, Laura, Josh and Megan all received awards.  Laura earned "The Great American Challenge" award. Since she was studying American history, she had to learn and pass off several things like the Preamble to the Constitution and the Gettysburg Address. The Gettysburg Address was pretty challenging and we were so proud of Laura for doing it! She was one of only two kids in her class to receive the award. Josh earned the Triumph Award. He had to pass of different things in math (like his times tables) and writing and we were very proud of him for earning his award also! Megan earned the Falcon Award. She also had to memorize and pass off different things (including the Star Spangled Banner that she practiced and practiced) and we were so excited when she completed everything! Laura, Josh and Megan also had their dance festival at school and we finished up the soccer season for Laura and Megan. Megan scored her first goal in one of her last games and was so excited! The last picture is from the last day of school. Moving to a new school this year was hard for all of them. Josh especially had a hard year. But, I'm extremely grateful for good teachers that took great care of them and taught them a lot. And, I'm so impressed with my kids for working hard, getting good grades, and making new friends. Lia worked really hard to end the year with straight A's. I am so grateful for all of them and for the opportunity I now have to be with them all summer!
