Mountain Biking

Our bucket list for Whistler included mountain biking. So, we rented bikes and found some trails right outside the village. The kids all did great and it was a lot of fun (until I got a flat and had to walk my bike back). There was a downhill mountain bike race at the resort that day too which was cool. When we were walking back through the shops that night trying to decide where to have dinner, we spotted an Old Spaghetti Factory. I've been trying to talk my sisters into going for my birthday for a couple years now and no one has wanted to go. So Nate, being the great husband that he is, talked the kids into going there. The food was about what I remembered...not great, but the nostalgia and the laughs were totally worth it! Megan got her souvenir on this day (a Canadian Mountie Moose) and made sure to wrap him up that night in a "blanket" so he would not get cold.

River of Golden Dreams

The River of Golden Dreams is a kayak/canoe tour from Alta Lake to Green Lake in Whistler. It's a 3-hour long self-guided tour. Megan was too young to take a kayak down by herself, so the two of us went in a canoe. It was beautiful and a lot of fun! The kids did great, especially Lia who's elbow was still healing and who shouldn't have been paddling a kayak for three hours straight. But, she did it anyway without any complaining (not that she had a choice--I didn't even think about it until we were already on the water and it was a little late to turn back). There were a few parts that were a little hard to navigate (like the part where Nate capsized his kayak while trying to film the rest of us--thankfully his phone survived), but all in all everyone did great and had a great time!

Whistler Village

We rented a condo in Whistler and the first matter of business when we got there was to try out the hot tub! We also checked out the Olympic Plaza and the shops that were right across the street from where we were staying.

Horseshoe Bay

After Lynn Canyon, we stopped at Horseshoe Bay to see the tide pools. It was also beautiful and the kids had a fun time exploring.
