Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we spent it with the Nelsons. Nate offered to cook the turkey and it turned out perfect! We hot tubbed (and some of us--Laura--rolled around in the snow) while the turkey was cooking and then had a really nice dinner with the Nelsons.

Chicago

Nate had a conference in Chicago and I got to tag along. I was SO excited! I've wanted to go to Chicago for a long time and I loved every minute of it! I always think that the latest trip we've taken together is my favorite and I'd say the same about this trip. It was so great. Our first night, we had dinner at probably the nicest restaurant we've ever eaten at and then went to see Hamilton. We've both wanted to see it for a while and it lived up to the hype. We loved it! The next day we explored the city. We had pizza and cannoli, saw the beautiful architecture, went to The Art Institute of Chicago (which was incredible), and had some over the top ice cream. On our last day, we walked down to the Navy Pier and found a cute donut shop with some awesome donuts we took back to the kids. Nate and I have been so fortunate to be able to travel together. I have loved being able to see new cities, but more than that, I love being with Nate!

November Activities

Nate's brother Cameron and his family started a ski and snowboard "Wax Shack" in their garage. Cameron was nice enough to train my kids so they could set up the first "Nelson's Wax Shack" franchise in our garage. They were so excited about it and so responsible about getting it started and getting their jobs done. They printed out fliers and delivered them around the neighborhood and even with a little bit of a late start, they got plenty of business. Next, we enjoyed our newly completed backyard remodel by hot tubbing with the Nelson cousins and hammocking. And Megan played with her friend Samara, Lia hung out with her friends, Megan dressed up as a 1950s girl for "Decades Day," and Megan and Laura worked on a puzzle.

November

In November, we went to a comedy show with Jim Gaffigan and Laura participated in a quartet piano competition. The show was really fun (Josh was especially excited about it) and Laura and her group played so well!

Halloween

Halloween usually begins with a Barson party and a Nelson party, followed by costumes and parades, family dinner, and trick-or-treating. Megan was the only one who went trick-or-treating this year. She met up with her friend Hannah and then some other friends.
