Memorial Day

On Memorial Day we went on a hike to Scout Falls up American Fork Canyon with Nate's Family. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time!

Nate and Lia started doing family history work together. I love seeing them work together on a such a great thing!

 Megan and her friend Shine at the mall. They have a lot of fun and can spend an entire day together without a problem.

 Lia's "Rock Concert" at school where they sang songs about geology. Lia loves geology. I hope she will stay interested in it as she gets older.

Megan LOVES babies! She always has a least three she's playing with at any given time. She got this couch from her cousin Jessica and it's one of her favorite places to play with her doll "Nunu" and her babies.

 Josh has really taken an interest in Nate's missionary name tags. He wanted to wear one to church and even agreed to wear a tie on this day so he would look like a missionary. He keeps the name tags by his bed at night.

 Josh's second tooth he lost.

 Megan learned to ride a two wheeler!  I think she could have done it the summer before this picture was taken, but she was too nervous. When Nate's dad was down one day we said something about taking the training wheels off her bike (I think because she had been wanting me to help her on Josh's bike) and off they came! And then off she went. She's a great little rider!

Yard Work Saturdays

While weeding in the backyard last Spring we found a garter snake. Josh was so excited! All the kids thought it was pretty cool, including some of the neighbors. But Josh was especially protective of it. When he wanted to go play in a neighbor's yard he told Nate to check on it EVERY minute so it didn't escape. When he got home and found the snake was gone he said to Nate, "you didn't check on it every minute did you!?" I felt bad it got away, but at the same time, I didn't. I'm not a fan of snakes. For Josh though it paid to work out in the yard.

Lia decided last Spring she likes mowing the lawn. She was such a champ to do it a few times! Nate could not have been happier about the arrangement. We did offer to pay her though after the first couple of times since it's not one of her normal chores.

Josh lost his first tooth!

Lia did a book report on Laura Ingles Wilder and dressed up like her.

 Janet and Kent came down to help us plant some trees in the back yard.

 And the kids put on a show for them.

 I got to go on a field trip with Laura to the planetarium.

 We played at Grandma and Grandpa Nelsons.

 Nate went to Wood Badge--something he's avoided for years but ended up really enjoying.

 And Josh had his animal showcase at school, he chose a lizard.

Laura's Baptism

Laura's baptism was a beautiful day! She was so sweet and so excited. I know she has a testimony and is very sensitive to the spirit. All morning as we were getting ready, I kept thinking about how much I love her and how grateful I am for all of my kids. I am so proud of Laura and the decision she made to be baptized. Nate gave her a beautiful blessing in her confirmation that was so fitting for her. It was a special day for my nephew Daniel too who was also baptized in our ward that day. They are three days apart and it was fun to see them get baptized together. Like Amelia's, Laura's baptism day was one of my favorite days as a mother.

Laura's Birthday

Laura's eighth birthday was a lot of fun! We celebrated on Friday by opening her presents in the morning, going to Pizza Pie Cafe for lunch, getting her ears pierced at the mall (she was so brave!) and then she had a luau with her friends after school. We went out for Chinese at her request that night. The next day she was baptized, which I will post about next. I love eighth birthdays and we love our Laura. She is so much fun and brings a lot of enthusiasm to everything. She loves to tease, which she gets from her dad. She also loves to write and draw. Laura is a good writer and expresses her feelings well in writing. Second grade proved to be a difficult year for Laura in a lot of ways, but she had a lot of great things happen too--like getting baptized and being the cutest eight year old around!
