September

In September, Laura played in her first piano recital with her new teacher. She played beautifully! We also spent time at Grandma and Grandpa Nelson's where Lia, Laura, Josh and Megan helped teach Austin how to ride a two-wheeler and got to go for a ride in grandpa's truck (Laura was in her "Paris" themed outfit that day--she likes having themes when we're going to Nelsons on Sundays). I also had LASIK surgery, which was awesome! I'd been having trouble with my eyes for almost a year and finally found out it was from my contacts. I had the surgery so I won't have to wear them anymore. After 30 years of wearing contacts or glasses, it's pretty great to be able to see without them. And lastly, Lia was sick--again. She's been sick more in the last year than all her other years combined! Thankfully this time didn't last as long as some of the others.

Labor Day Weekend

We spent Labor Day weekend with our little family and the Nelsons. Cameron was in town and we had a hot dog roast up the canyon, a bbq, and lunch at Hire's. We also went up to Alta and got our ski passes for this winter, went to the stone quarry where they got the granite for the Salt Lake Temple, and fished up Big Cottonwood Canyon. We ended the weeekend with a bike ride to the Highland Glen pond by our house and the mountain bike trail behind it.

End of August

I let all the kids have a back to school party and these first pictures are from Megan's. They played outside, played headbands and watched a movie. All the kids were excited about their parties and they were totally worth any effort on my part. Also at the end August, Nate and I squeezed in a bike ride when he stayed home from work to fix our washing machine. We rode to Vivian Park up Provo Canyon which was the furthest I had ever ridden--40 miles. It wasn't that hard and it was fun to go with Nate, as always. And finally, Nate and Josh went to the first U of U game of the season (thanks to Ashley and Jared). Josh loves doing anything with Nate!

Biking

Nate took Josh mountain biking the other day and he loved it! He couldn't stop talking about it when he got home and was already planning the next trip. He also got to ride a dirt bike at the Elmer's cabin which he loved!

First Day of School

Lia started 8th grade, Laura started 6th, Josh started 4th and Megan started 2nd. I think we were all feeling a little more confident this year not being the new kids. They were all really excited about starting and as sad as I was to see them go, I am in a better place this year too and for that I am grateful.
