We celebrated Lia's birthday over a couple of days. She had her family party the night before and her friend party the next day on her actual birthday. The family parties are my favorite, but she had a fun friend party too. My sister Kristen came over and did everyone's hair and my nieces Alyson and Samantha painted their nails. Lia is really into zebra print right now, so she had a zebra print cake, zebra print party favors, and Laura made her a zebra print sign for her chair. Lia is also into "spas" right now, so she got "spa stuff" from grandma Nelson--face masks, nail stuff, etc. The night of her birthday I was going to make her favorite dinner (red pepper pasta), but when Nate got home and I was still cleaning up from the party we decided to go out to dinner--to Lia's favorite restaurant Rodizio Grill. We had only been there once before, but Lia loved it and had been asking to go again for months...maybe years. She was thrilled and we had a really fun night!
We started a tradition a few years ago of reading the book "On the Night You Were Born" on the night of their birthday after (or before) I tell them about the day they were born. This picture of Lia and Nate is one of my very favorites ever. Lia is at a really fun age. She wants to participate with the adults at family parties, but she can still be silly and do "kids" stuff too. She's a huge help to me and really responsible. She started babysitting for us this year and it's so nice! Lia loves fashion and knows how to put outfits together. I'm pretty sure she dresses better than I do. More importantly though, she's a good girl. She's a great daughter, sister and friend. She knows what's right and she does it. And she just came that way. We are so grateful for her and love her very much!
