Megan's Birthday

Megan turned five amid the hand, foot and mouth. We had to postpone her party with her friends, but we were able to celebrate with us and with Nate's family. Josh and Laura worked really hard making her a pair of shoes out of paper. They colored them, stuffed them with stuffing, and stapled them. They were a little hard to actually wear, but it was so sweet of them and she was really excited to get them. She was also excited to have her cousins over. Her favorite present was a baby doll from Grandma Nelson that she can put in the bath. Her baby took dozens of baths those first few days after her birthday. Megan is such a sweetie. She loves babies and playing house, riding her bike and rollerblading, and playing with her friends and her cousins. She gives great hugs and I love holding her little hand. Some of my favorite things that she says are: she calls crutches (that she and Josh make out of PVC pipe and pretend they can't walk without) "crunches" and substitutes "subitutes." When I ask her if she's done with something she says, "not quite yet." She told me it was going to be harder to pick her up now that she is five and can reach things better. It is getting harder, but thankfully I still can and she is still a great snuggler. I am grateful for Megan and the ray of sunshine she is in our family!
