Camping

In preparation for girls camp, Lia dyed the bottom of her hair red with all the other Beehives in the ward. I was assured it would come out after a few washes so I let her do it (which it mostly did, by the way, after A LOT of effort on Lia's part and then we still ended up cutting a few inches off the bottom afterward). She then wanted it braided for camp and thankfully we were at the Nelsons the night before so she had lots of helpers. While she was at camp, I let Laura and Megan and Josh sleep outside in our tent with our neighbors the Holleys and the Bronsons. They wanted to weeks before and I told them maybe they could while Lia was at camp as long as I slept out there with them. Well, I forgot about it, but Laura of course remembered and called me out on it. Jen slept out there with me, so it ended up being a fun night and I think the kids even got a little bit of sleep. We made scones the next morning and then cleaned up and got ready for the next weekend trip...the Barson reunion. Nate met us up there late that first night so he could wait for Lia to get home from camp. She was a little dirty and really tired, but she had a great time and I was so happy to see her again!

Stanley, Idaho Continued

We rented a paddle board and peddle boats at Red Fish Lake. We didn't think it was going to be as warm as it was so we didn't bring suits. The kids didn't mind swimming in their clothes though, especially after grandma pushed them in the water from the boat!

Stanley, Idaho

My mom and Steve invited us up to Steve's cabin in Stanley, Idaho. It was beautiful up there and we had a good time four wheeling, running the river, warming up in the hot springs, and going to Red Fish Lake.

June

In between our weekend trips, Megan found new places to do gymnastics, we met Katie's new baby Hannah Kate, Josh went to cub scout day camp, and Laura got new glasses (after taking her to the eye doctor and finding out her eyes have gotten much worse).

Mesa Verde Continued

On our last day of the trip, we decided to drive home through Durango and Silverton. Nate went to Durango and Silverton as a kid but I had never been there and we decided we wanted to take the more scenic drive home. We had lunch in Durango (and happened to find an old car show that Josh was pretty excited about) and then drove through the Rocky Mountains through Silverton and Ouray, Colorado. It was beautiful! It added a little time onto our trip home, but it was worth it. We caravaned with Kent and Janet which ended up being a good thing because they had car trouble about 3 hours from home and we were able to take them home with us. Other than the car trouble, it was a great trip!
