Little Red

At the beginning of June, Katie and my friends Jen and Jessica and I participated in the Little Red Century Ride in Logan. It's an all-women ride and raises money for different types of cancer that affect women. It was so, so fun. We went to dinner and spent the night in Logan the night before and then got up early for the race the next morning. We stayed together for the first part of the race and then I tried desperately to catch up to Katie after getting separated from Jen and Jess. I finally caught up with her at lunch. We were making good time to reach the cut off mile marker of 70 miles by 1:00 until Katie got a flat tire. But, we fixed it and barely made it in time after losing a half hour. Katie had one more tire issue after that and told me to go ahead while she got it fixed. She caught up to me on a hill toward the end of the race that I didn't know was coming. It felt terribly long, but we made it and rode in together. Jessica and Jen were just a few minutes behind us. It was a long ride (and took some long rides getting ready for it--which included a hot, dry ride out to Herriman and a crash coming out of American Fork canyon on another ride), but it was so worth it! It was so great doing it with Katie, and Jess and Jen, and so fun to see our families at the end cheering us on!
