At the end of July, we took a trip to Illinois to see the church history sights in Nauvoo and also to see my niece Lauren perform with the Young Performing Missionaries there. Unfortunately, Lauren was taken to the hospital the day we got there and ultimately ended up going home early. She was really sick and wasn't able to perform with the other missionaries again. We visited her in the hospital and tried to help communicate with Kathie and Mike until they were able to get there.
We saw some Mark Twain sights on our way to Nauvoo and tried frog legs and chicken and waffles at the restaurant in town (the frog legs were gross, FYI). In Nauvoo, Nate, Lia and Laura got to do baptisms for the dead in the temple which was really cool. I loved the Women's Garden at the visitors center and the kids loved the midwest farmlands, the fireflies at night, and the little cabin where we stayed.
