Scuba Diving

From the time we signed up until we were about to jump in the water, I was trying to find a way out of going scuba diving while still allowing Nate to go. There wasn't a way. But, I'm so glad I did it. It was so, so cool. We stayed under the water for a little longer than we were originally supposed to (about 45 minutes), but we both survived (even Nate was a little nervous, he told me afterward). I don't know if I would do it again, but it was awesome and the photographer that was with us got some great pictures! I love that Nate encourages me to try new things, even when they are scary. It's always worth it!

We had a great trip. But more importantly, we have had a great 20 years together. I am so thankful to have Nate as my best friend, by biggest supporter, my favorite person to talk with, try new things with, cry with, and grow with. He has made all my dreams come true and I hope I have done the same for him.

Mexico

At the end of April, Nate and I got to go to Cancun for our 20th Anniversary. We had such a great time! The hotel we stayed at was awesome and we did some fun tours. Our first one was a tour of the Mayan ruins in Tulum and Coba. Our tour guide was a member of our church so he pointed out similarities between the ruins and Book of Mormon history. It was really cool. We also had lunch and swam in a Cenote which is an underground lake. It was amazing! The two couples we went with were really fun too so that made the day even better. At the end of every day we would get cleaned up and go to dinner at one of the restaurants at the hotel. They all were really good! We also did a spa day and a jungle tour where we rented these little speed boats and rode out to a place to snorkel. The boats were really fun (and a tiny bit scary) and the snorkeling was really great snorkeling. I loved getting dressed up every night and going out with Nate. Our favorite restaurant was the French restaurant, but all of them were good. There was also a really great concert one of the nights. On our last day there we decided to scuba dive. I have NEVER wanted to scuba dive, but they make it really easy there. You practice in the pool for a half hour to see how you do and then they take you out to the ocean. I was more than a little nervous, but Nate really wanted to do it and I didn't want to be a wimp. It was awesome!! Those pictures are coming up next. (The only hard thing was Lia's friend Addie had just moved in with us a few days before we left and partly because of the trauma she was going through, all the kids were feeling out of sorts and were calling us every night in tears over something. But, they survived and we got into a groove with Addie when we got home and loved having her. )
