End of Summer

We tried to enjoy the last few days of summer as much as possible. Josh played with Charlie and Sam and Lia had a back to school party with all the girls her age in the ward. Lia loves planning parties and we thought it would be a good way to get to know the girls better. Laura and Megan also had their own back to school party that they planned with a few of their friends (down to the very last detail) but unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of that. Also, Josh and Laura and Megan discovered a little hide out in the front yard in the pine trees. They cleaned it out (and by that I mean cut back a whole bunch of branches and raked the dirt a little) and tried sleeping in it. Josh said he was going to "hibernate" in there all year so he wouldn't have to go to school. The night before school started I found him out in the garage after his shower trying to get his sleeping bag down so he could head out to his hibernating spot. Thankfully I intercepted him before he made it out there. And finally, we went to the kids' open houses at their new schools. We found Lia's locker, practiced opening it and found all her classes. After fitting in Lia's locker, Megan wanted to see if she could fit in her own cubby in her classroom. The kids were all really excited and also a little nervous about starting school.
