First Day of School

Josh's first day of school was a day before everyone else's. He had 7th grade day on Monday where all the 7th graders go by themselves to find their classes and get used to their lockers and everything. He and his friend Camden came back to our house afterward for lunch. On Tuesday everyone else started. They were all excited and a little nervous.

End of Summer

At the end of the summer, Lia, Josh and Megan and me went to Tibblefork Reservoir with our friends the Stinsons and the Sanders (Laura had other plans that day). Josh was so excited about getting to wear his wet suit! We also had a back to school tea party at Janet's. And Megan and her friend Hannah decorated their old teacher's car at the school to tell her congratulations on her new baby (she lost a baby the year before and their whole class was so sad about it). And lastly, Josh and Nate and all the Nelson boys went to a car show and motor sports event. Josh loved it!

Mid August

In the middle of the month we went to the Jr. High to go check out Josh's locker, practice opening it, and find where his classes were. He was a pro at opening the locker, but he wasn't really excited about getting his picture taken and ran away when I tried. Next we had our annual summer painting class (by annual I mean this was the second summer we have done it). This year we did water color and our subjects were pictures from our trip to Hawaii. We also got Megan a cello so she could start taking lessons. She was so excited and got started right away leaning how to play online. And lastly, I took Megan and Hannah swimming and Laura and Megan tried out a hot tub at the store where we decided to buy a hot tub.

More from Megan's Birthday

On Monday after Megan's birthday, she went climbing with Audrey and Lucy and Nora. She also had a party with her friends. They wore their pajamas and had pancakes and played games. It was a fun day to round out the birthday celebrations!

Megan's 10th Birthday

Megan turned 10 a few days after I turned 40. She was so excited for her birthday and so excited about her new minky blanket! Her birthday was on a Sunday and after we opened presents and had breakfast, we went to Kellie and Ian's ward to hear Alyson speak. She was leaving on her mission that week. That night we had Nate's family over to celebrate. I'm including a lot of pictures because I want to remember all these people and what they looked like as our kids were growing up. I also want Megan to remember how lucky she is for all these people, especially her big sisters smiling over her shoulder in the last picture.

Megan is so fun to be with. She's excited about everything! She loves gymnastics, making slime, playing with her friends, and stuffed animals (and real animals). She writes the best notes and has a very tender heart. She still wants me to tuck her in and read stories to her at night. And when we're out on a walk, she still wants to hold my hand. I'm excited to see all the great things she'll do, but I'm not anxious her for to grow up! We love Megan!

Wisdom Teeth, Hikes and Welding

At the beginning of August, Lia got her wisdom teeth out (she did really well and didn't say anything crazy after waking up from anesthesia), Megan and Hannah went on a hike to a waterfall with Hannah's family, and Josh did some more welding. He and Nate are working on getting his go cart running again, which apparently was pretty exciting because Lia and Laura set up chairs in the garage to watch.
