Paris: Day Two

Our second day in Paris we met up with Emilie and Lydie who took a train up from Lyon to spend a couple days with us there. I missed getting a picture of Laura and Lia when they first saw them, but I caught Megan. We spent the day at Versailles. It was everything I had heard it was--very ostentatious and fascinating in its ostentatiousness. Driving through the gardens in our golf carts was my favorite part. We had dinner at a great restaurant that night where the waiter was very nice and patient with our rather large group--especially for Paris. And then we got some ice cream and went back to see the Eiffel Tower again with Emilie and Lydie. We let Josh stay at the hotel for this visit.

Eiffel Tower

Our first night in Paris we went to the Eiffel Tower. After seeing pictures of it for forever, it was crazy to actually be there. Lia was especially excited--she had dreamed of this for years! We got to go in and ride to the top. The view was, as you would expect, pretty amazing! Afterward we went and got dinner (where we had France's version of mustard pickles) and then went back to wait for it to get dark so we could see the Eiffel Tower with the lights on. Some of us were not as happy about staying to see the lights as were the rest of us, and it didn't help that we got caught in a rain storm with no jackets or umbrellas. Nate, knowing what was good for him, bought us some umbrellas which helped (they were so cute and I wish we could've brought them home with us, but we left them in Lyon with the Lepores). And then we found a cafe to get some dessert and hot chocolate while we waited. It was a fun night even with the rain and slight grouchiness.
