My 39th Birthday

We celebrated my birthday while we were in South Carolina. Nate and the kids made breakfast and decorated the table with the sweetest cards and a cake. After breakfast went on a kayak tour (we rode our bikes there and everywhere the whole time we were there), which was really fun, and on a bike ride where we spotted an alligator. We then went home and got ready for our family pictures that night. Our stay at the resort included a family photo session and they told me to schedule it at the beginning of the trip, so I scheduled it the night of my birthday. Everything was fine, and we were even on time, but then we had to wait for the photographer. And wait. And wait. By the time she was finally done with the group before us, there were huge storm clouds rolling in. I've never seen the sky so dark. I was more than a little annoyed. We were able to get some family pictures done, some pictures of Nate and me, and individual pictures of the kids before it really started to rain. But by the time we got back to the car, we were soaked. And I mean SOAKED! I wish I could say we had a good laugh about it, but I may have had a little bit of a melt down instead. Sometimes that happens with family pictures. And sometimes on vacation. And sometimes on birthdays. I guess the combination of all three and having to do my hair and make up again before we could go to dinner and worrying that the pictures wouldn't turn out in our rush to get them done before the rain came was just too much. But thankfully my family forgave me and by the end of the night I had pretty much forgiven myself. My family always spoils me on my birthday and I am so grateful for them! I'm especially grateful when they forgive me when I overreact occasionally...but only occasionally.
