Mid July

In the middle of July, Megan got to the be in the American Fork Steel Days Parade with her gymnastics team. She was so excited about it! Laura walked in it too with her friend Brooke. We also went to hear Brady speak in church before he left on his mission to Paraguay. We were so excited for him, but sad to say goodbye. Then we had dinner at Nelsons where Jan and Luann made homemade taffy and the kids did crafts. And lastly, I took Josh and Megan rock climbing. They've both decided they love rock climbing, especially Megan.

Last Day in Hawaii

Our last night in Hana we went swimming one more time, Josh tried his best to open a coconut, and we watched a movie in our bathrobes. The next morning, Nate and I got up early to hike to Fagan's cross, a memorial cross made of lava rock at the top of a hill by the resort. The view from the top was awesome! We also thought we should try the dragon fruit we bought before we left, we took a few more pictures at the resort, went to lunch, and headed to the airport. The kids were so tired on the way home! It was such a great trip. I really didn't want to go home and when we got home, I wanted to go back. It was a dreamy vacation and I feel so lucky that we got to go!

Hana Day 4

While we were in Hana, we hiked to Waimoku Falls in Haleakala State Park. It was so beautiful! Not all of our kids love to hike, but they all did great. The bamboo trees were my favorite part--it was like we had stepped into a different world.

Hana Day 2 and 3

On our second and third days in Hana, we took ukulele lessons, Josh and Nate had spear throwing lessons (in the rain), we tried fresh coconut and learned how to peel a coconut, the girls and I learned how to paint with leaves (the technique has a cool Hawaiian name, but I can't remember what it is), we made smoothies where the blender was powered by our peddling, Nate and I walked down to the beach (which was beautiful, but more rocks than beach), we did some more swimming, and we played at the house.
