Josh's Birthday

We celebrated Josh's 8th birthday with a picnic (bagels--Josh's favorite) with Sarah and Lucy and Nora, a party at the Highland pond with his friends, and a hot dog roast in the backyard that night with just our family. He was very specific about what he wanted on his cake: a lake, a canoe and a fishing pole. All morning it looked like it was going to rain and we were trying to decide what to do about going to the pond. We decided to still go and got dumped on as soon as we got there! But, we waited it out under the pavilion while we opened presents and had cake and thankfully the sun came out. We took the canoe and a little raft Nate bought for the party. We had a great time! Josh could've stayed all day. Josh is at a really great age. I love seeing all the funny things he does. He's starting saying "got it" when we ask him to do something (I'm pretty sure he got that from his dad) and I love hearing him call his friends "dude!" like a hundred times when they're playing. He's becoming more responsible and more interested in the things Nate's interested in. He told me the other day he wants to work at Peak Capital when he's older like his dad. He taught our family home evening lesson the other night on Joseph Smith and did a fantastic job! He looked up the information on Gospel Library, typed it up, and gave the lesson. Before he finished, he bore his testimony. I was so proud of him! He also says the nicest, most sincere prayers. When Nate and I were going to the temple one time, he prayed that we would "have a nice time at the temple doing ordinances." He also gives the best hugs! He loves playing with his friends, riding his bike, riding the new green motor scooter he got for his birthday, laying on his floor playing legos (which he still takes to bed with him--I'll be sad when that ends), playing baseball, fishing, and most recently staying up late to watch football, basketball, or baseball games with Nate. We love Josh and are grateful for all he brings to our family!
