Janet and Kent had been serving a mission at the global service center for a couple years and they were supposed to finish up at the end of January so we planned a get together to honor them and their service with all of Nate's family. They still have not finished that mission and I think they might choose to serve there forever, but it was a really nice night. We wanted to show them how much we love them and what a great example they are to us and I hope they felt that. They shared with us some of their favorite memories and what they have learned during their time there. I am so grateful for their example to Nate and me and our kids.
We also had our Valentine dinner (without Lia--we missed her!) and Lia got her temple recommend! Her bishop initially wanted her to wait to go to the temple until after she got her mission call, but Lia really wanted to go on her birthday and she wasn't sure she would have her call by then. She was so ready and excited to go and we knew she was ready too. After meeting with her bishop again she was able to explain to him that she felt ready and prepared and she got her recommend. She was so excited and so were we!
And lastly, Josh and Laura had their piano recital. The both looked so nice and played so well! Josh played this song called "Mr. McGill" that he'd been practicing for months and offered to play it for us and any guests we had over at any given time. It was pretty funny. This ended up being his last recital. When he asked to take lessons I was thrilled and figured we would ride that wave as long as it lasted. He's doing really well on the guitar so the piano was just a bonus. Laura loves to play and her years of hard work have paid off!
