The island is in the Gulf of Mexico which means unless there is a storm, the waves are very mild, which made it perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding. Josh also tried out the skim board. The first day he was fine on it, but the second day he fell and cut his leg open (the best part was he didn't even notice--he walked up to Nate to tell him he was having a hard time on the board and hadn't even noticed all the blood dripping down his leg). We were afraid he was going to need it stitched. But thankfully a helpful neighbor showed us how to bandage it up without stitches and told us to keep him out of the water for the day. He didn't mind hanging out in the hammock and looking for shark teeth on the beach with Nate. We came home with a great collection of shark teeth and shells. I have never seen so many different kinds of shells!
